Phorm are a company that has been setup for ISPs to use as a tool to serve advertisements instead of the ones that are really there. It tracks your internet movements and logs in then targets you with advertising that suits your browsing habbits. Its claimed however it does not track sensitive information like banking, medical and pornography. ISPs currently have an Opt In serivce; meaning you have to ask for this to be applied to your internet connection.
Phorm has caused recent scare in the media following BT using customers are guniea pigs and trialing it on them without the customers themselves knowing. Phorm is the largest of its kind.
