Default How Many Digital Cameras?

I'm still on my first digital camera, not counting phones. It's starting to look pretty dated with the new ones coming out with larger displays and more megapixels.

How many digital cameras have you bought so far?

I'm on my second now, but if you're talking compact digitals, there's not a lot more with the current technology they can do to make it worthwhile changing.
Any more than 5 or 6 Megapixels is a waste of time and not necessary. They all have antishake, autofocus and auto-expose/auto-shutter and many also have manual controls. You can get one as small as you like with a screen covering the whole of the back if you like. Digital zoom is a waste of time so can be ignored anyway.

I changed from one with 5 Megapixels and 5x optical zoom to one with 7 Meg and a 10x optical zoom as I found the 5x too limiting and like to shoot stuff from further away. Unless there's a big change in optics science, any higher zoom than that will require a big camera and I want one I can put in my pocket.

So whatever else they bring out, I can't see me changing.

btw I noticed the other day that my mobile phone has a camera with a (digital) zoom on it and it can take movies too. What a waste of technology - I used the camera once to take my wallpaper shot and that's it.

3 digital and about 4 film in the past 4 years. It's nice to have a little one for out and about, but if you're worried about quality, the only real solution is a DSLR - and definitely not a budget one at that!

Digital's a pretty firm winner in a lot of aspects now - in its place:

I am on my third digital camera. I've had it for about a year and it really is so dated now. It works fine, but lacks a lot of extras.

I am still on my first digital camera as well. I don't take pictures too often so I see no reason for upgrading to a newer model.

I recently got my own camera, It is a Nikon D60 Dslr, it is incredible. Here is a photo I took of a street light with it.

The quality of that camera is very good. What type of digital camera do you have?

My Panasonic FZ5 from 2005 (it was old then!) is still my main workhorse - a good lens and quality internal processing will always beat extra features and more megapixels, without doubt. Unless you have specific complaints with your current camera, don't buy a new one, they have a terrible return on investment

I have 3 digital cameras.
The best one that I recommend is Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5
I also browsed this website before I bought it
http://www.bestinclass.com/digital-cameras

It is on the first place in the category :Best Easy Compact Digital Camera for Travel Photos Under $400

Pros
+Class leading 10x zoom with wide angle view
+Low distortion lens with good corner-to-corner sharpness
+Sturdy metal body
+Class leading LCD resolution (460K dots) that is great for framing and checking focus
+Good image quality

Cons
-Lacks useful Aperture/Shutter priority modes.
-Images lack contrast fine details because of heavy noise reduction
