Yes and remember K56Flex x2?

US Robotics supported DDR 56K Dialup in hardware but no ISPs ever got around to updating their hardware...

Cool Ping!!!

Can somebody tell me what is a PING and how it effects our internet usage and speed. Please tell in detail. At this point I only know that a ping is not a good thing. Thats all I know about pings.

I have the Linksys Wag200, It's not very state of the art but it's a lot better then the router modem that my isp gave me and the user interface is incredibly easy to use.

Ping is a command that help you detect the connection status of your network. When you type a ping like "ping www.google.com", your computer will send some packets to the site www.google.com and wait to reply from that site.

If it receives the reply, it shows the time since sending point to receiving point, and therefore, help you know whether your connection to www.google.com is fast or slow.

If it waits for too long and could not receive the reply, it shows that connection to the site is timeout, that means your computer might not be able to connect to that site.

This will help you detect the problem of your network connection. For example, if you could not ping to a computer in your local network (LAN), you could assume that your LAN has problem. In case you could ping a local computer and could not ping a remote site, you can assume your internet connection has problem and might fix the router or cable.

I have used and no people who have used Draytek adsl modem routers and have never had a problem with them, seem to keep a good connection and do not crash, drop the connection hardly at all. They are quite expensive as routers go but they are very reliable.

if you dont want to pay the ridiculous price of the draytek's, netgears are extremely reliable.
