Default video card on laptop

Is it easy to replace a video card on a laptop? I have replaced and upgraded various components on a PC over the years but I have never tried working on a laptop. Is it much more difficult because of the smaller space?

I believe that replace things such as graphics cards in laptops is tricky.

If you laptop has integrated graphics, forget it. It is impossible to add a graphics card to the laptop as it will simply have no PCIe slot available. However, if you do have a graphics card in there, then you will need to buy a laptop graphics card which that physically fits within your laptop case. This basically means, you will have to find a card which was designed specifically for you laptop, however, because this will be a very limited choice, you shall find it hard.

If you do manage to find one that will fit, then you will also have to consider heat. The new graphics card may fit, however your laptop will have been specifically designed to remove so much heat, too much heat and you risk frying components.

However, things like RAM and hardrives are easy to replace in a laptop.

It is not easy to replace a video card in a laptop. Before replacing check the list of laptopsto find out if the video card in your laptop can be upgraded. If it’s not there, chances are good that your video card cannot be upgraded

Most notebooks don't have upgradeable graphics.

Notebooks with integrated graphics are as a rule of thumb not upgradeable atall.
Even notebooks with a "Dedicated" graphics card may not be upgradeable as a lot of manufacturers have soldered the graphics chipset direct to the system board.

And those that do use a seperate graphics card - known as an MXM module, have a custom designed cooling system which typically won't be suitable for a better graphics chipset.

Unfortunately when it comes to notebooks, best bet is to get a good enough spec in the first place

I found that mine was impossible to upgrade, and I have learned my lesson. I will get what I need the first time, so I won't have to deal with it being insufficient in a few months time!

There's also the warranty issue you have to deal with.

You should better take it fixed at the place you bought it,because you don't lose the warranty that way.
Good luck.

If you decide to do it your way here are some videos that might help
